Obituary of Settina Pollera
Settina Clementina Pollera (nee Licursi), age 95, wife of the late Dominic C. Pollera passed away on May 15, 2018. Settina was a passionate, committed woman who dedicated her life to her family and her banking career. She had a deep appreciation for cooking and woman's advocacy, as seen through her past engagement in several groups dedicated to furthering the business careers of women. Settina worked her way up from teller to the Assistant Vice President of Advertising and Public Relations at the Peninsula National Bank in 1966. Regardless to her commitment to her work, her dedication and hardworking nature, guided her in being an exceptional mother, grandmother, and eventually great-grandmother. She is survived by her children, Marie and Louis Basile, Patricia Parlo (and the late Joseph Parlo), Barbara Musacchio (and the late Robert V. Fitzgerald), her dear Sister Marie Catropa, Sisters-in-law Rose Pollera,Lee Licursi and Florence Stigi, Grandchildren, Veronica and Jeffrey Cohen, Dominique and James Doyle, Dena Parlo (and the late Christopher Parlo), Patrick and Shannon Basile, Matthew and Mary Ellen Parlo, Great grandchildren Hope, Connor, Emma, Kristen, Trevor, Abby, Noah, Benjamin, Kayla, Isabella, Lily, Hannah, Josephine, Vincent, Kateri, Giovanna, and Xavier. Settina was chosen as the "Woman of the Week" for the Herald Newspaper, where she was described as "always ready to meet a new challenge, (and) always ready to extend herself and her horizons". Her kindness, compassion, and commitment will be forever remembered in our hearts. Settina lived a long and fulfilling life and will be missed immensely by her family and friends. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Wednesday, May 23rd at Our Lady Of Good Counsel, Inwood, NY. Burial will be in St Mary Star Of The Sea Cemetery, Lawrence, NY on Wednesday, May 23rd at 11:30 am Calling hours will be Monday, May 21st from 6-9PM and Tuesday, May 22nd from 2-4 & 7-9PM at Towers Funeral Home Inc., 2681 Long Beach Rd, Oceanside, NY.
